How much does a staircase renovation cost?
The short answer is that it depends entirely on your design choices. Complete renovations start from about £4,000, and only your budget determines the upper limit.
What determines how much a staircase renovation will cost?
There are several factors that affect the final price of a custom staircase renovation, with material choices, design complexity, and structural modifications being the most significant. A straight wooden staircase with a small landing return and minimal embellishment is notably more affordable than a staircase with multiple turns and lotsd of additional balustrade requirements.
Staircase renovation costs also depend on the amount of steps, newel posts, and balustrades required, finishing method and style, detailing and decorative elements, and labour costs.
The best way to get an understanding of how much your renovation project will cost is to speak to the experts. Call or email First Step Designs to get an accurate staircase renovation quote today.

First Step Designs recently completed a staircase renovation project for the Oates family. The entire renovation, including a landing balustrade, came to £6,840 + VAT.
The Oates family opted for a full balustrade replacement featuring European white oak newel posts, handrails, and base rails. To create an open, airy feel in their hallway, they added bracketed toughened glass panels. The oak was finished with our custom Almond stain, which gives the look of raw oak while offering full protection. After installation, they completed the project with a full carpet.
This staircase renovation cost approximately £5,200 + VAT for the stairs alone, with the landing balustrade bringing the total to £6,840 + VAT.
