To design a glazed detail with a flawless finish, free from any visible fixings.
The Riley family had a strong preference for a metal staircase that concealed any visible fixings or functional details, prompting us to employ clever design and machining techniques. These techniques were instrumental in concealing the inner workings of the glass structure and creating the illusion of a floating half landing.

The Challenge
Floor to ceiling glazing complete with a helical handrail.
Our desire was for a full-width staircase within the opening, which led us to stack the lower and upper strings. This arrangement allowed us to seamlessly incorporate the glass balustrade on the same plane, granting us a clear and spacious 900mm width while achieving a sleek, open-plan look with embedded glazed balustrades.
